The traveling column 6-station drilling machine is a mass-production machine tool. Traditionally, manufacturers both domestically and abroad utilize specialized, dedicated controllers for this equipment. During the R&D phase, following recommendations from ITRI’s Mechanical and Systems Research Laboratories and the PMC, our company successfully developed this model by integrating LNC Technology's M600 and 600i CNC controllers. We have now further adopted the new LNC8600 five-axis controller. Throughout the mechatronics integration process, the first-generation development spanned several years, focusing on proprietary software for the machine's unique functions. These features include: button-triggered tool changes (achieving a Tool-to-Tool time of just 1.3 seconds), six-tool holder detection and identification, Point-to-Point (P2P) rapid positioning, feed rate adjustments, and tapping control. Additionally, programs can be edited and modified on a PC and then transferred to the controller via an RS232C connection. To achieve rapid and precise displacement while preventing accuracy errors caused by excessive loads, the design was completely overhauled. By adopting the "moving-column" philosophy of the latest CNC machine tools and utilizing HSR 30TA 2SSC high-strength linear guideways, the machine has evolved into a high-performance traveling column turret machining center. Standard function Automatic origin return. Automatic tool length setting, machine home setting. Dry run, curret position display. Program down/up load from/to personal computer RS-232C. Program memory capacity. Internal sequencer control (4 outputs, 3 tool inputs, controlling spindle rotating direction and stop). Subprogram call, subprogram loop.
